What exactly is a walk-behind sweeper? Walk-behind sweepers are particularly manoeuvrable and easy-to-operate floor cleaning machines. They are driven by an operator who walks behind the machine (hence the name). The operator controls the functions of the machine (whether powered or pushed) and uses their arms to move the handle and steer it.
Walk-behind sweepers are compact and light in weight and can therefore be operated safely and effortlessly by everyone. Forward speed is never higher than average walking speed. Actual speed is determined by the force applied by the operator in the case of fully mechanical sweepers or is controlled by means of a traction control lever in the case of automatic machines.
