Today, there are many machines on the market capable of effective, quick and easy floor cleaning.

One of the challenges facing many of these scrubber-dryers, however, is how to clean around corners, obstacles and along walls.

Scrubber-dryers are not always easy to manoeuvre, and it is not unusual for exposed parts, especially squeegees, to strike nearby obstacles.

Eureka’s auto-release, floating squeegees solve this problem and are now even more effective thanks to Swinguard – a protective side guard that gently guides the squeegee around obstacles at the edges of cleaned areas.

When the squeegee on a Eureka scrubber-dryer encounters an obstacle, it retracts sideways, returning to its normal position when the object is passed.

In the event of a more violent impact, a quick-release mechanism decouples the squeegee and prevents it from dragging the obstacle along with it or being ripped from the machine, causing significant damage.

This mechanism is essential, as it provides a valuable safety margin in the event of accidents, distractions or operator errors.

However, whenever the squeegee is released in this way, the machine must be stopped and the squeegee re-attached to continue cleaning.

Here are the main benefits of Swinguard, a wing-shaped guard installed at the right side of the squeegee, the point most exposed to contact with walls and obstacles.

Swinguard anticipates impacts and retracts the squeegee as if on a rail, allowing it to gently follow the contour of any obstacle and – thanks to the clever design work of Eureka’s R&D department – returning it to its original position as soon as the obstacle is passed, thus removing all cleaning solution from the floor.

The main advantages are more accurate and uniform cleaning along floor edges, and an ability to perform cleaning operations faster and more safely, without suffering accidents or causing damage.

Swinguard provides extra safety and is yet another example of the constant quest for improvement that drives Eureka’s R&D department.

To achieve top-quality cleanliness, after all, you have to take care of the details!
