Rocco Lapenta (RL) of logisticamente.it interviewed our marketing manager Marco Chemello (MC) for the logisticamente onair podcast dedicated to logistics, transport and supply chain management.
(RL) At Logisticamente we are well acquainted with the world of logistics and understand just how important cleaning is inside warehouses. Could you explain why it is important to use industrial sweepers that do not raise dust in logistic environments?
(MC) A very good question! Thank you. To begin with, let me dispose of a false belief. Sweepers shouldn’t ever raise dust, especially in logistic centres or warehouses. We all know how much of a problem dust is. One of the main differences between industrial sweepers like those produced by Eureka and cheaper, commercial alternatives is that industrial machines are equipped with anti-clogging filters. These allow industrial machines to clean a floor in a single sweep and to filter out large quantities of dust without the filter clogging. This in turn means that industrial machines sweep without raising dust. Eureka sweepers have always done so, thanks to design solutions like multipocket filters, high-performance seals, timed filter shakers and continuous shaker bars.
(RL) What main advantages come from using industrial scrubber-dryers and sweepers in warehouses and goods movement areas?
(MC) Industrial scrubber-dryers and sweepers have been essential allies in warehouses and goods handling areas for many years – and for good reasons. For example, they rapidly remove impressive quantities of dust and even large pieces of debris. Another important point is that they avoid the ageing and deterioration of stored goods and keep product packaging clean and damage-free. They improve the safety of warehouse personnel too, by leaving the workplace cleaner and tidier and by creating a healthier working environment. Last but not least, by eliminating the deposit of dust they prevent damage to the electronic equipment used in logistic operations.
(RL) What characteristics does a machine need to clean floors in logistic areas efficiently?
(MC) At least three main characteristics need to be taken into consideration: efficiency, strength and reliability over time, and safety and manoeuvrability. The machine must be able to clean rapidly and achieve good results in just one pass. It must always be ready to use when needed. And it must be designed with operator comfort and ergonomics in mind and must be safe for the surrounding environment too.
(RL) What offering does eureka have for the logistics sector?
(MC) Eureka has always served the warehouse and logistics sector thanks to a range of scrubber-dryers and sweepers with cleaning paths and productivity ratings tailored for all applications. Our E110-R, for example, can sweep and wash in one pass, halving cleaning times and costs. We also offer a wide range of zero emission, electrical, battery-powered sweepers. The Bull 200 is the top of the Eureka range and is ideal for cleaning large yards and manoeuvring areas.
(RL) Thank you, Marco, for joining us today.
(MC) Thank you too. I look forward to seeing you again soon. I hope this interview has provided with you food for thought.
(RL) We once again thank Eureka for their help with this episode.
